FAQs

How much pit depth do I need? Pit depths vary for each manufacturer. However, 10” is usually a standard and safe depth to use. How is the framing different for the rail wall? The rail wall does have significant framing differences to standard framing, as the wall is the primary support for the loads and reactions of the elevator. Most manufacturers required two sets of doubled 2X12’s or LVL’s (Laminated veneered lumber) going continuously from the pit to the ceiling of the elevator shaft. The distance between them and specifics are different from each manufacturer. Our sales staff would be delighted to provide further information on specifics for your job. Do I need an inspection? Residential elevator inspections vary from state to state. For instance, Ohio and Indiana do not require inspections on Home Elevators; whereas Kentucky does.
